High King Maulgar - 25man raid |

The pull is the hard part. A lot of stuff happens. For teh first few pulls, just focus on your part and know what you goal is for each phase of the fight and do that. Let the raid leaders watch and see what isn't happening.
If you are one of the tanks, then you may want to watch a video from the pt of view of your tank to know how the pull works.
Multiple hunters work well here to help with MD to make sure that the bosses go where they are supposed to and aren't pulled by an early heal, but they aren't requried as once the tanks pick up their boss, there will be little to no dps for a while.

Our first attempt was a learning experience.
-1 medium health mage to tank Krosh - with another medium health mage on the wing in case the first one falls. - One dedicated healer
-4 tanks on Olm, yup 4, plus one warlock enslaving one demon - One dedicated healer <--- need more healing for these tanks or at least a better grouping to leverage Circle of Healing and Prayer of Mending (priest's not Blind-Eye's).
-MT on high king - one dedicated healer
-2 hunters on Kriggler - one dedicated healer
-one tank on Blind-Eye - one warrior to interupt shield, two rouges for prayer of mending, two or three hunters for self-heal - one dedicated healer
I didn't like our positioning very much on the pull (in retro-spec) - but it wasn't terrible:
Krosh on the far right - MD from a hunter
Blind-Eye on the extreme left - MD from a hunter
Kriggler where he started (pretty much)
High King forward and left on opposite wall (the wall you skirt along to get to the extreme left) - MD from a hunter
Olm pulled forward to the middle away from Kriggler but not so far as to be close to the High King - pulled by lead tank (amongst 4)
How I want to change it up:
Krosh - as we did - far right
High King - far left (where we did Blind-Eye)
Kriggler - pulled forward into the starting corridor
Blind-Eye and Olm tanked a little forward and left of their starting positions (away from Krosh, no where near high king)
This latter positioning groups our DPS up in the same place for the first two kills. As well, any hunters on MD duty can swiftly start to help DPS Blind-Eye after the pull. I don't think we should worry about Blind-Eye getting a prayer of mending off, the rest of his crew are only being tanked so far and we are doing our best to interrupt in anyhow. This positioning will be much simpler than what we used our first time out.
Thanks and Gratz to all for our first attempt!
Cheers,

The listed candidates are for example only, except the mage tank candidates - before we make an attempt, someone will have to step forward and gear for the position. Yellow indicates a class/spec need for our raiding team.
Mage Tank for Krosh
Needs to gear up for it: http://www.wowwiki.com/Mage_Stamina_Gear_List
Mage tank runs forward to Krosh pulling him to the right side, then blinks out of range of Krosh's AOE. Then, ongoing, spell steals Krosh's shield so he can survive the fire balls. Will also need spell hit to avoid Krosh resisting spell steal.
Candidates: Majayceth, Iwillrun, and Dekes (although Kno may be needed to tank)
Shammy support for Mage Tank
Our mage tank will need mana wave and wrath totems. Having these totems properly placed for the mage tank is the first priority over doing dps.
Candidates: Coolness
Warlock special forces
As the pull unfolds, needs to cast 'Curse of Tongues' on the Priest Mob and then concentrate on Olm's adds. One Olm add can be kept banished. Ongoing, the Warlock needs to enslave an Olm add and send it over to Krosh, taunt Krosh, and let Krosh kill it.
Candidates: Ibicia
Ace spell interrupters
Rogues need improved kick, warriors need improved sheild bash, shadow priests need silence, and hunters need silencing shot to interrupt the Priest Mob's heal spells when he has his shield (bubble) up.
Candidates: Basil, Atron, Paulbunyun, Shadowbane, Tx, Flamidols, Bov, ...
Hunter Gangsters
Two hunters need to engage Kiggler and move him back towards the entrance corridor.
Candidates: Lithion, McHurt, Morim!?
Imen
Needs to pull the King to the extreme left (towards Gruul's area), then stand there and take beats from the King.
OT for Priest Mob
Needs to charge in and tank the Priest Mob where he stands.
Candidates: Kendread
Partners in Tanking
Need to charge in and tank Olm where he stands.
Candidates: Kubli, Stalathan, Kno
Tank on the run
Responsible for picking up extra Olm adds and tanking them.
Candidates: Creith
Mage Tank healer
Preferred healing class: Pally
Next perference: Shammy
High King OT
When down to killing the High King, needs to taunt the High King in phase II.
Candidates: Kubli, Stalathan
Imen healers
Three dedicated healers.
Candidates: Kyraina, resto-Druid, another healer (Priest/Pally/Druid/Shammy)
Gangster healer
Love the hunters pulling Kiggler.
Candidates: Voltan
Tank Techs
Need to keep Priest Mob/Olm/Olm add tanks alive
Candidates: Iratio, Loreley
Raid Healer
Needs to top up DPS.
Healer: Priest, Druid, Shammy, Pally
Tanks and Healers
5 tanks
8 healers
2 hunter tanks
1 mage tank
--
16
DPS
1 mage support shammy
1 warlock special forces
7 straight-up DPS and spell interruption
--
9
Needs
One or more of our mages geared with Stamina
Some of our DPS to take improved talents/special talents to interrupt Priest Mob while his shield is up
Three to four more healers - we have Laz and Shadow in the guild; however Laz's play time seems limited, and it would be a positive gain to keep Shadow shadow.

good break down, last time i tanked the high king i noticed his spike damage seems to be crazy, i'd do well for a long time then suddenly i was dead. In light of this, i'm gonna try to create a stam version of my tanking set but it'll take a long while . . . i'm sure he won't be the only with spike damage as a problem . . .

ah, now i know why, i think two healers won't be enough, i think we'll need three
Arcing Smash
Same as Cleave, hits for 6000 to 12000 dmg on plate. <-- THAT is what kills me.
Whirlwind
His whirlwind does 7000 dmg on plate and will probably kill any cloth-wearer on his way. Some bossmods may warn you just a few seconds before he does it but melee DPS should be very cautious here and DPS only after he finished it for about 15 seconds.
oh, and once he hits 50% health i'll need a fear ward rotation . . .

Melee goes in for 25s after observing a whirlwind...
Very next spike dmg. problem: Gruul.
We may be able to deal with the High King's spike dmg using two healers given the gear level of Imen and our top healers.
Finally, a fear ward rotation makes killing the High King easy, woot.

Hunters will need a stam set eventually but not yet. Mulgaurs whirlwind is easy to avoid for ranged. What we normall do is melee do there rotation on mulgaur while the ranged burn down the mage (no one wants to be melee range of him).
MT healing with lots of spike damage is really helped by a mix of healing. Tree healers keeping big hots up on the MT help to smooth out the spikes and Pally's tend to be the most efficient single target healer. I think a well geared pally and priest healer chain healing the Mt and a druid keeping op hots on the Mt and maybe an off tank will be a big help.
Also, if spike damage is still a problem, consider a well geared feral tank does well with spike damage (more armor and more health).
This fight really is complex but if everyone knows their task then it all comes down to the pull.
