Kara Gen Discussion - Read First

This Forum will host discussion threads for each Boss that we will face and all that we learn as we go. There is a lot of general information in the endgame Forum that can be useful and should be read by anyone who is raiding but I will try to sumarize here

As a Raider you need to come to every raid prepared. Unlike a 5 man grp, there are 9 other people in the raid ad you don't want to keep them waiting while you repair or buy a couple of potions for the run. Be ready to go BEFORE the raid time. That includes the following

1) have all the necessary mods installed - A threat meter (I prefer Omen) and a boss mod of some kind (I prefer bigwigs) and whatever else is useful for your class (decursive is considered a must by most guilds if you can dispell curses/magic/poison/disease/etc). At some point the guild will decide on what it likes best and mandate that everyone use the same thing (easier if everyone is using teh same mods)

2) Come with all the food/water + buff food + pots (mana/health) and whatever else you might need for a long night. Wiping 8-9 times is not uncommon on learning nights and if there is time, you might drop a repair bot or all head to town to repair and coe back again and try some more.

3) READ THE STRATS!!!!!!! There is nothing more frustrating then to wipe because someone didn't some critical aspect of teh fight and there is only so much that can be discussed on vent prior to the fight. Know the fight and know your part in it.

4) Have fun and keep a good attitude. Raiding can be frustrating. You will wipe... a lot. Sometimes it may take weeks to get past a certain boss and that is OK. Just don't fight amongst yourselves.

There will be more added as you progress and gain experience but this is what i could think of.

So I have posted discussion treads for the first 4 kills that I expect for you to make. Attuman is first and I fully expect him to go down early in the week (Kara resets on Tuesday mornings) then I expect Moroes will give you some trouble before you move on to probably the Opera events. I would suggest making at least 1 attempt at maiden each week while working the opera so you can start to work out the issues with her.

After these 4 you will need to take down the Curator for your first Tier 4 items (Gloves). He is a pure Gear check. You will not be able to beat him with any amount of skills unless you have the right gear. If you cannot put out enough sustained DPS you will lose everytime. That is why it is critical to keep running heroics and to farm as much gear as you can from the first 4 bosses to prep for Curator. Many bosses in Kara are optional, but the Curator is not.

We use OMEN and WoW voice chat. We are considering switching to Vent though. Morim, do we still have a server?

Looks like Kara will be slated as a weekend thing, as most people seem to only be available, Fri, Sat, and Sun. Smile

While I doubt I will get to Kara i am kitted our for vent with a really nice new headphone set. If people are still using vent I would join in on some lower level stuff

Morims raid grp cleared Kara today in 3 hours and 10 minutes, all 11 bosses. We wiped once on Nightbane at 1% and actually had so much excess dps that we were spending as much time dpsing Curator as we were the flares. Curator was at 67% at the start of the first innervate and was dead before the 2nd one. 22 badges in 3 hours Smile

I need to try to find a way to do that every week until I get my badge gear without getting GF aggro.

well i think i know my roll pretty well and am always top 3 dps when i run something. ok how do i get keyed for kara. and morim what gear u recomend i have when i go there?

Seij, I hate to break it to you, but in a 5 man, if you are not top 3 then you are broken. You have a tank, a healer, and 3 dps. I am not saying that you are not doing well, I am just saying that to claim top 3 pre kara doesn't mean a whole lot.

As far as gear, I'll look it back over tonight and post on the hunter forum some starter lvl 70 hunter gear and also post the first set of upgrades you shoudl shoot for. Is your LW up to 375 yet? Get it there because the Ebon Netherscale set is T5 equivalent and easy to make. I am still wearing most of my gear that way.

As far as getting Keyed for Kara, you no longer need to be keyed for Kara but it is useful to get keyed so you are able to more easily get your DPS ring. The path to get keyed is posted somewhere here, but basically just go to www.wowwiki.com/karazhan and there should be a link to attunement that will step you through it. If I recall, at 69 you can just go to Kara and they will give you 2 quests to start with. Follow the chain until you get to your first instance which will be shadow labs.

never mind, I just bumped the post up in the end game forum. It has good starter gear for lvl 70. Everything is either quested, crafted, or drop from regular instances.
